Queen Elisabeth Competition 2026

In 2026, the cello takes centre stage at the heart of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition.

As one of the most demanding and high-profile international music competitions, the Queen Elisabeth Competition has, since its founding in 1937, served as a launching pad for exceptional violinists, pianists, singers, and cellists embarking on international careers. Staying true to the shared vision of Eugène Ysaÿe and Queen Elisabeth, the competition continues to seek out versatile musicians. Its reputation rests on a prestigious jury, strict regulations, unrivalled media coverage, and the warm support of the Belgian public and the Royal Family.

In 2026, the Queen Elisabeth Competition will focus on the cello for the third time. From 4 to 30 May, the world’s most talented young cellists will compete at Bozar – with the Belgian National Orchestra and chief conductor Antony Hermus accompanying the finalists during the prestigious final week.
