The Belgian National Orchestra is grateful to its partners, thanks to whom the many concerts, artistic productions and educational and social projects are made possible.
The Belgian National Orchestra is under the supervision of the Minister of Finances and Pensions, in charge of the National Lottery and the Federal Cultural Institutions. Some concerts are performed with the support of the Belgian federal government's Tax Shelter. As a federal cultural institution, the orchestra is subsidised by the federal government.
The National Lottery: a driving force behind classical music
Playing the National Lottery is about far more than the thrill of the draw. Behind every ticket lies a powerful engine for social good. Each year, the National Lottery reinvests 100% of its profits back into society. A significant share supports culture: major museums and art venues, contemporary festivals, emerging Belgian talent… and of course, the Belgian National Orchestra.
For many years, the National Lottery has been a structural partner of the Belgian National Orchestra. Together, they share a key mission: making classical music accessible to a wide audience while strengthening Belgium’s international reputation as a leading cultural nation. Thanks to this long-term partnership, the Orchestra can pursue artistic excellence, nurture new talent, and bring forward-thinking projects to life — projects that highlight Belgium on the global stage.
Beyond this structural support, the National Lottery backs hundreds of cultural organisations and initiatives across Belgium every year. Many institutions working with the Belgian National Orchestra have benefited from its support — today or in the past — for specific projects. From Bozar to Concertgebouw Brugge, from La Monnaie to PBA Charleroi, and from the Queen Elisabeth Competition to Flagey, Ancienne Belgique, the Musical Instruments Museum and Klarafestival: all are part of the cultural ecosystem made possible thanks to the National Lottery’s contribution to the classical music landscape. In 2024 alone, the National Lottery supported no fewer than 1,885 projects nationwide.
The Belgian National Orchestra maintains close links with Bozar, where it is in residence, and La Monnaie, with which it frequently organises synergy concerts.
The Belgian National Orchestra teams up with a host of Belgian and international cultural organisations that play an active role in the development of its projects:
