South Korea Tour 2025

News

In September 2025, the Belgian National Orchestra will embark on a vibrant tour through South Korea under the baton of its chief conductor Antony Hermus. With performances in cities such as Seoul and Andong, the orchestra will play pieces by Brahms, Beethoven, and Mozart and will be joined by the remarkable pianist HaiSun Paik.

  • Korea-born, globally acclaimed 
    Born in Seoul and trained in Boston, she bridges Eastern sensitivity with Western tradition in her interpretations.

     

  • An early breakthrough
    After earning top prizes at renowned international competitions like Leeds, William Kapell, and Tchaikovsky, HaeSun Paik became the youngest pianist of her generation to be appointed professor at Seoul National University.

     

  • Fourth Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition
    In 1991, she took home the Fourth Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, performing Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto with the Belgian National Orchestra. Thirty years on, she reunites with the BNO for a major tour — a full-circle moment!
