On 27 February, a sold-out Henry Le Bœuf Hall resonated with the sound of 146 singers and 91 musicians in Fire in my Mouth, the monumental work by American composer Julia Wolfe, who was present for the occasion. The evening marked another powerful collaboration between Bozar, La Monnaie and the Belgian National Orchestra, joined by the Vlaams Radiokoor. Photos: Shamrockraver.

“Radical and uncompromising, the piece held the audience in rapt attention. Not a cough, not a stir — all eyes fixed on the stage until a standing ovation crowned the performance. The score’s striking clarity, illuminated by moments of sheer grace, spoke with undeniable force, carried by the shared fervour of choir and orchestra. The precise and inspired conducting honoured these women through the strength of a predominantly female line-up, where collective commitment and sisterhood became one with the very message of the work.”
