An emotional moment on 12 June as Antony Hermus conducted his final concert as Chief Conductor of the BNO. Take a look back in pictures.
After four remarkable years marked by more than 65 concerts, two Queen Elisabeth Competitions, tours to France, Germany and South Korea, and the inauguration of the BNO Atelier, the time has come for our Chief Conductor Antony Hermus to leave for new adventures. A packed Henry Le Bœuf Hall rose to its feet to congratulate and thank him following a deeply symbolic concert featuring Lukáš Vondráček in Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and the original 1910 version of Stravinsky’s The Firebird.
This is not truly an ending, nor a farewell, but rather the close of one chapter and the beginning of another. Antony Hermus will return next season as Conductor Laureate. The Orchestra is already looking forward to welcoming him back to Bozar on 24 January with Nikola Meeuwsen and on 7 March alongside Alexander Gavrylyuk.
We are profoundly grateful for his infectious enthusiasm, unwavering commitment and inspiring vision, both on stage and behind the scenes. We look forward to sharing many more musical moments together.
