At the second Symphonic Date of the season on Thursday 9 April, the BNO audience was taken on a journey through Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, conducted for the occasion by the energetic Richard Egarr, with Thomas Vanderveken as host.
After a warm and sunny day echoing the luminous atmosphere of Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony that was about to be performed, nearly 1,500 music lovers and curious newcomers gathered at Bozar for this unique concert format. As a charismatic master of ceremonies, Vanderveken opened the evening with an accessible, lively and humorous introduction, inviting everyone to discover this symphonic masterpiece with openness and ease.
Between a few “blind dates” scattered throughout the hall, a vivid and inspired performance driven by the commitment of every musician, and a heartfelt standing ovation, the format once again confirmed its success. The evening continued in a convivial atmosphere, with drinks or dinner on the terrace.
