In this chamber music concert, the musicians of the BNO take you on a journey through several decades of musical creation, revealing the many facets of Stravinsky’s art: always surprising and deeply innovative. Discover the masterful palette of sounds this legendary composer could create even with the smallest of instrumental ensembles, using instrumentation that is as unexpected as it is original. A work by his contemporary Maurice Ravel completes the programme, showcasing the orchestral imagination of both composers and the rich sound worlds they explore within the chamber music repertoire.
Following an opening solo for clarinet, different ensembles — from quartet to septet and octet — unfold a wealth of colours and contrasts in a programme that brings together bold lyricism, inventive poetry and neoclassical modernity.
