Ecem Topçu

Turkish soprano Ecem Topcu made her professional debut in 2018 as Arsena in Der Zigeunerbaron and in 2019 as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at Samsun State Opera and Ballet. She was awarded 3rd Prize at the Young Soloist National Singing Competition 2019 (Izmir) and Honorable Mention in Yalçın Davran National Singing Competition 2019 (Ankara). Having obtained her bachelor’s degree in classical singing from Ankara State Conservatory with greatest distinction, Ecem studies since 2021 at the International Opera Academy in Ghent. 


Ecem opened the season 2022-2023 at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen as Mädchen in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny (directed by Ivo Van Hove). She was a soloist with the Belgian National Orchestra in the Winter Concert – Mozart Viva la Libertà! at Bozar conducted by Karin Hendrickson (2022). Currently, she performs Female Choir in The Rape of Lucretia (B. Britten, a coproduction of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen and IOA, director: Carlos Wagner). Upcoming performances (2023) include: Rosina in De Barbier (after G. Rossini, director: Tom Goossens, Deschonecompagnie), and Gilda in Rigoletto at the Grand National Theatre of Peru.
