Bozar, choreographer Radouan Mriziga, and the BNO bring dance and classical music together in Staging the Concert.
What are roots? And what do they evolve into? This was what the celebrated choreographer Radouan Mriziga wondered in this new edition of Staging the Concert. With his fascination for the relationship between space, architecture, the body and our inner lives, he is the perfect person to give the concert experience a new twist.
Along with musicians from the Belgian National Orchestra, Mriziga searches for the origins of orchestral instruments. From the very first moments, the bond between player and instrument is also exposed in an evening full of minimal music. Constant repetitions and subtly changing motifs dislocate your sense of time, something which Mriziga himself intensifies even more. With an atmospheric soundscape and clever lighting, he creates a total experience in Henry Le Boeuf Hall.
In the Staging the Concert format, Bozar encourages a dialogue between visuel art and music by inviting an artist to express themselves during a concert experience. New dimensions of the concert experience are explored through the interplay with space, light and materials, thus creating a timeless and one-of-a-kind scenographic performance.
