The International Opera Academy celebrates its twentieth birthday in 2020. Over the years, 143 students from 36 different countries graduated from this specialized programme for opera singers and repetiteurs. Scores of wide-ranging repertoire are addressed each year, and yet one composer stands out: Mozart! His music works as a healing ointment for every voice, a medicine for young opera singers.
‘Celebrating with Mozart’ is a unique gala concert, bringing together music from the 23 operas composed by Mozart. On stage: students, alumni (a.o. Ana Quintans, Kiup Lee) and masters (Dietrich Henschel, Reinhard Hagen) of the International Opera Academy, as well as the Belgian National Orchestra and the young Italian conductor Pietro Rizzo. A double celebration!
