50 musicians. One symphony. No conductor. What happens when an orchestra leads itself? Find out through Beethoven’s Seventh.

Described by Wagner as “the apotheosis of dance”, Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony is a work of irresistible energy and driving rhythms. For this exceptional concert, the BNO takes on a bold artistic challenge: performing the work without a conductor. Without a baton to guide them, the musicians must listen more closely, anticipate, breathe together and shape every phrase collectively. The orchestra becomes a vast chamber ensemble, where cohesion and trust are at the heart of the performance.
This rare experience can be discovered at the Atelier BNO, our new rehearsal space, and at the Abbaye musicale de Malonne, where the symphony will be preceded by a dynamic piano presentation by Étienne Rappe, exploring Beethoven’s three stylistic periods.
Two concerts to experience Beethoven from a different perspective, and to hear what happens when the orchestra takes the lead.
