Alexey Markov

Soloist and guest artists

Markov grew up in Vyborg and began his career as a member of the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers. He went on to win the Rimsky-Korsakov and Obraztsova vocal competitions, and second prize in the Dresden Bel Canto Competition. Since 2008 he has been a member of the Mariinsky Theatre, where his roles have included Count di Luna (Il trovatore), Germont (La traviata), Renato (Un ballo in maschera), Rodrigo (Don Carlos), Don Carlo di Vargas (La forza del destino), Iago (Otello), Scarpia (Tosca), Eugene Onegin, Prince Yeletsky (The Queen of Spades), Robert (Iolanta), Grigory Gryaznoy (The Tsar’s Bride), Fyodor Poyarok (The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevroniya), Prince Andrey Bolkonsky (War and Peace), Chorèbe (Les Troyens), Valentin (Faust) and Escamillo.
