Once upon a time… a new musical chapter for 2024-2025

In a society brimming with stories, narratives weave the very fabric of our humanity. From bedtime fairy tales to political speeches, storytelling is the cornerstone of our collective consciousness. Renowned historian Yuval Noah Harari asserts that our belief in fiction is what unites us as a species. This shared belief allows us to achieve the extraordinary. And what better way to convey these stories than through the universal language of music?

The Belgian National Orchestra presents its 2024-2025 season, "Once upon a time…". In this collection of musical stories, our orchestra will celebrate indispensable repertoire such as Mahler's Fourth Symphony or Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1. However, under the guidance of its new intendant Bob Permentier and its chief conductor Antony Hermus, our orchestra is also resolutely focused on the future and new chapters that will shape the history tomorrow, including works by Annelies Van Parys, Michael Daugherty, Detlev Glanert and Thomas Adès.

Between tradition and innovation, the Belgian National Orchestra's sound library surely has a story for you...
