Innovative formats

From Sylla Symphonic to Julia Wolfe’s Fire in My Mouth: we push the boundaries of classical music through bold, pioneering formats.

Scylla Symphonic

For the 20th anniversary of his successful career, Scylla surprises the audience with a brand-new artistic direction: together with the Belgian National Orchestra, he wraps his best-known songs in an unprecedented orchestral format.

Fire in My Mouth - Julia Wolfe

In this powerful and moving oratorio, Julia Wolfe gives voice to the 146 victims who perished in a factory fire in New York in 1911. Fire in My Mouth weaves traditional Yiddish and Italian melodies with survivor testimonies to commemorate this tragedy. The composer’s minimalist style combines deep emotion with a raw and striking portrayal of the factory and the fire.

Cathedral of Sound

Technology and classical music come together through fiber optics and the expert hands of Thierry Escaich! This exceptional concert puts innovation at its core by synchronizing the grand organ of the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula with the BNO in a series of breathtaking orchestral works.

Staging the Concert

In the Staging the Concert format, Bozar encourages a dialogue between artistic disciplines and invites an artist to intervene in the concert experience. Choreographer-dancer Radouan Mriziga will join the Belgian National Orchestra for a scenographic performance,
