A festive New Year's programme where Viennese waltzes mingle with Spanish and South American music, in collaboration with star guitarist Pablo Sáinz Villegas.
The Spanish classical guitarist Pablo Sáinz Villegas is undoubtedly the world’s most renowned ambassador of Spanish guitar music. He has performed in legendary venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Musikverein in Vienna and the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. He has also played alongside the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in a New Year's concert conducted by Kirill Petrenko.
The young celebrated Finnish conductor Emilia Hoving is one of the most exciting discoveries of the moment. She began her career as an assistant conductor to Hannu Lintu (Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra) and Mikko Franck (Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France) and then made a name for herself in some last-minute replacements, including with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then, she has conducted major orchestras, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
Emilia Hoving joins Pablo Sáinz Villegas to present a festive New Year's program featuring music from various continents, in which Viennese waltzes mingle with Spanish and South American music, including the famous Concerto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo. As tradition requires, the concert will conclude with Johann Strauss Senior's Radetzky March.
