The Belgian National Orchestra and Alexandre Kantorow travel to Namur with a program dedicated to the German composer Brahms.
This concert opens with Brahms' First Piano Concerto, performed by Alexandre Kantorow. The turbulent opening bars of this grand work are said to have been inspired by Robert Schumann's suicide attempt. After the intermission, the Second Symphony takes the stage, a light and joyful piece imbued with a pastoral atmosphere.
On the final day of the Brahms Festival, the orchestra plays the Second Symphony. Then, Alexandre Kantorow performs the First Piano Concerto.
